REJUVENATE THROUGH THE FEET
Indian Head Massage (IHM) is a holistic therapy practiced around the world, valued for more than simple relaxation. Its core purpose is to release built-up tension, fostering harmony between both physical and emotional well-being.
Over time, the traditional focus on the head has broadened to include the shoulders, neck and face, addressing areas where tension commonly accumulates. During an IHM session, gentle yet purposeful movements are applied slowly and rhythmically to soothe the nervous system, ease muscular tightness, and promote a deep sense of calm and mental clarity.
Many people value IHM for reducing stress, relieving tension and promoting a sense of holistic wellness.
IHM is suitable for all ages and is a gentle, non‑invasive therapy that can easily be adapted to individual needs.
Indian Head Massage has origins rooted in the ancient healing traditions of India, and has been practiced for over a thousand years. Traditionally known as 'Champissage', it was used within families to promote relaxation, stimulate circulation and encourage healthy hair growth.
In the 1970s, IHM was introduced to the West by Narendra Mehta, who studied in London and recognised its therapeutic potential beyond simply hair care. Narendra Mehta developed a structured approach that combined traditional techniques with a modern understanding of anatomy, making it accessible and valued as a complementary therapy.
